Microsoft acquisition, neglect and now termination of Skype has got to go down as one of the most egregious wasted opportunities of all time.
Skype had a dominant position in video calling (Zoom), a nascent social network (you could find, follow, friend other users) with with IM / share files (WhatsApp) and some embryonic collaboration potential (Slack).
Somehow Microsoft wasted all these moments. I still pay a subscription to a Skype account out of respect for what the product was and could have been. Sad to see it finally go, but what a waste
